The other morning I was reading these verses and they just spoke right to my heart. Because I just needed someone to tell me it’s going to be alright. And I think we all need that sometimes.
“I called out your name, O GOD, called from the bottom of the pit. You listened when I called out, ‘Don’t shut your ears! Get me out of here! Save me!’ You came close when I called out. You said, ‘It’s going to be all right.’”
Lamentations 3:55-57 MSG
When your kid is making poor decisions, it’s going to be alright. When your finances are in a strain, it’s going to be alright. When your marriage has hit a rough spot, it’s going to be alright. When the doctor doesn’t have good news, it’s going to be alright.
Does that mean it will be perfect or work out the way you want it to? No. You may still have to walk through that illness. You may still lose your job. You may still walk through divorce. The author of these verses is still in the pit!!! He’s still walking through a tough time when God tells him it’s going to be alright. You will still walk through stuff. But it does mean that we shouldn’t fear because God is with us and in the end, it’s going to be alright. And for that I am so very thankful. Even when I’m in the pit and it’s dark and I don’t know my way out, it’s going to be alright.
When it’s not alright with your kids, remember: “For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour my Spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.”
Isaiah 44:3 ESV
When the doctor says it’s not alright, remember: “He forgives all your iniquity, He heals all your diseases,”
Psalms 103:3 ESV
When your finances are tight and not alright, remember: “Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil, and your vine in the field shall not fail to bear, says the Lord of hosts.” Malachi 3:10-11 ESV
Lord Jesus, help us to call out to you in our times of need. Help us to have peace in knowing that it’s going to be alright. Even with the diagnosis isn’t good. Even when the money isn’t there. Even when the divorce papers are delivered. Strengthen our faith to know that you are there and you are working it out. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
