You Say I Am Loved
You gave me your life and showed me your unfailing love. My life was preserved by your care. Job 10:12 NLT
Love is an emotion, a feeling that we have for people in our lives, for our pets, even for material items in our possession. Do we really know what love is or do we just say it? I have often been told that you have to love yourself before you can love anyone else. I would just ignore it and answer back that yes you can love others without loving yourself. Let’s say, reality hit me in the face with the truth; You Can’t Love Others without Loving Yourself first.
After listening, I mean really listening, to Lauren Daigle’s new song, You Say I realized that God was wanting me to wake up and learn to love myself for who I am and for whose I am. God shows us a love that no human can ever show us, a love that is unconditional, a love that is an agape love. No matter what I have done, how I feel, or what I’m going through, HE LOVES ME.
In the NLT, Love is mentioned 759 times. Proverbs 19:8 says, “To acquire wisdom is to love yourself; people who cherish understanding will prosper.” Psalm 5:7 says, “Because of your unfailing love, I can enter your house; I will worship at your Temple with deepest awe.” In the new testament, we are told to Love our Neighbor as we love ourselves. Love the Lord your God with all heart. Each time love is mentioned, it is used in a different type of love.
When God says He Loves Us, He means it.
I want to leave you with some of the lyrics from You Say:
I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the song of every high and every low?
Remind me once again just who I am because I need to know
You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And You say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don’t belong, oh You say that I am Yours
And I believe, oh I believe
What You say of me
