A Christian brother was treating a sister in the church very badly. She asked him several times what she had done, but he insisted she had done nothing wrong. However, the ill-treatment intensified. Eventually, he told her that he had read a book called ‘Boundaries’ and he was following the principles in the book even though it went totally against the teachings of Christ (or perhaps he misread it). You can set limits/boundaries and still be a loving person, but this brother turned nasty and went to the extreme eventually forcing the sister out of the church. The day Christians start taking moral tips from books which contradict the Bible is a sad day indeed.
A Christian couple were having marital problems and decided to seek counselling from a secular counselor. Of course, she recommended that they got divorced. Thankfully, the church marriage group was able to salvage the marriage, and they are now thriving and still happily married.
A young pregnant woman was unsure whether to keep her pregnancy or not. A secular counselor recommended abortion, but her church advised her to keep the pregnancy. The baby is now a strapping 16-year old boy.
1 Corinthians 6:1 When one of you has a complaint against another, do you take your complaint to a court of sinners? Or do you take it to God’s people?
Ps. I understand that in some situations, court may be a last resort but make it just that, A LAST RESORT.
