If you know me well, you know that I keep myself very busy. I go, go, and go. I do not give myself much time at all to rest, or to be quiet. I go until my body gives out, and there is nothing left of me. That is not a good thing.
So to try and fix this, I have been trying to figure out what rest is for me, and what rejuvenates me the most. I’ve learned rest doesn’t have to be you doing nothing all day. It can be doing that one task you have been putting off for a month that has been filling your mind. It can be doing small tasks around the house, or it can be spending time with those that you love.
Spiritual rest is important, and God tells you to rest.
2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.
3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
God even rested. The creator of the heavens and the earth needed rest, and we do too. I encourage you to seek what it means for you to rest. You cannot serve others if you are run dry.
