Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Matthew 7.13-14
We are currently selling our home of 30 years. My husband is retired and although I still work full time (from home), we are ready for a new chapter in our life. But selling a 70-year old farmhouse, with 14 acres, is not for the faint of heart!
Ten days ago, I found myself saying to a dear, online friend:
I’m walking a fine line between faith and fear.
Jesus had a lot to say about roads, gates, and doors! For today’s understanding, we will call faith the narrow gate and we will call fear the wide and broad gate.
The faith gate takes the narrow way leading to life and abundance and there are a very few who find it. The fear gate is wide and there are many who find it and are led to destruction.
As we go back and forth with contracts and addendums and amendments it is very easy to fall into the fear gate but I know it will only end in disaster and destruction.
Today, I must choose faith, that narrow gate and lean on my good, good Father who has only good plans for us – plans of hope and a future without harm to us. I believe the road through the narrow gate is called Trust Avenue and it is one of the most difficult roads of all!
O! For grace to trust Him more!
