Time is something we all struggle with.  Most of us feel like we are running to catch up with it (which never happens) and, for others, it seems to be moving in slow motion.  Time is a paradox.

Our reality is that we live within time.  Our language is peppered with time references:  Millennia, Centuries, Decades, Years, Months, Days, Hours, Minutes and Seconds.  We have multiple devices to help us monitor time: Calendars, Clocks, Stopwatches, Timers, etc.  In short, we are immersed in time and the only way out is our grave.

Now before you think this is a weird opening to a Daily Devotional, let me ask this question:

Where is God?

Yes, I know, He is seated on the throne in the heavenly places (according to Ephesians 2:6), but what does that mean exactly?

John 1:1-5  Amplified Version
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

The fact is that God (the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) exist outside of time Read that verse again, slowly…out loud.

Who is The Word?

Jesus is the Word and He was with God the Father in the beginning and so was the Holy Spirit.  The perfect Trinity.  “Through Him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”  That means that they were all there at Creation…the entire Godhood present and active, in forming and manipulating matter and creating life.  “In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”

Genesis 1:26-27 Amplified Version
Then God said, “Let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) make man in Our image, according to Our likeness [not physical, but a spiritual personality and moral likeness]; and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the cattle, and over the entire earth, and over everything that creeps and crawls on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

You and I are created in the image of God.  Let that sink in for a second.  We have something that nothing else in the entire Creation (including the angels) have: the image of God imprinted in us.  Isn’t that amazing?!

Alright, how does that tie in to time?  What we refer to as: Past, Present and Future… are all as One to God.  He is the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. He IS in every second of every moment in time and beyond.

“The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.”  Jesus said, “I am the Light of the World” (John 8:12) and, when He returns, time as we know it now will… cease to exist.

Let us change the way we think about time.

Pray and ask God to help you to be present in every moment of every day.  To really live fully and without measure.
