Strength, Struggle, Surrender
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. (Phil. 4:13 NLT)
“Is not all human life a struggle? Our lives are like that of a hired hand” (Job 7:1 NLT)
So then, surrender to God. Stand up to the devil and resist him and he will turn and run away from you. (James 4:7 TPT)
After spending time in prayer, the Lord gave me three words, strength, struggle, and surrender. These words have represented my life over these past few months. Through the trials and storms of life I needed to reevaluate where God stood in my life. He reminded me that I need to surrender everything to Him, including my life, that He has provided me with the strength to get through it all, and that I am stronger than the struggles.
The story of Job comes to mind with these three words. Job lost everything but he still choose to worship God, he still surrendered everything, struggled with pain, he still had the strength to go on and refuse giving in to the enemy. If only I had one ounce of the faith Job had, I wouldn’t beat myself up over the choices I have made in life. I can’t go back and change the past, I have to live for the present.
One thing I know, amidst all that is happening to me, is God is always by my side. All I have to do is call on His name, believe, surrender and I will have the strength I need to make it through these struggles. There is one song that helps me out when I get in that place, Casting Crowns Oh My Soul:
Oh, my soul
You are not alone
There’s a place where fear has to face the God you know
One more day, He will make a way
Let Him show you how, you can lay this down
‘Cause you’re not alone
Here and now
You can be honest
I won’t try to promise that someday it all works out
‘Cause this is the valley
And even now, He is breathing on your dry bones
And there will be dancing
There will be beauty where beauty was ash and stone
This much I know
I can assure you, no matter the struggle, no matter the storm, God will be your strength as long as you surrender it all to Him.
