Recently, a dear parent from our school passed away from the “c” word. She was kind and giving! A second grade teacher had built a relationship with this beauty even inviting her to bible study, which then led her to confess Jesus as her Lord and Savior!
John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, but whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.”
Even through the valley of a Christian death, grieving can be so hard! The absence of a friend’s laughter, tears, smiles, and then the guilt we carry of being here and her not with her family. Our precious second grade teacher was walking to the restroom in our third grade hallway and never made it to the restroom. Instead she met Jesus that day in the hallway!
We are super blessed that we work in a public school filled with devoted Christians! That day as she walked into the hallway, Jesus used us! She wept and shared her deepest thoughts…should I feel guilty for thinking she is not in any more pain… yet her teenage daughter is alone. Immediately the Holy Spirit came alive with words, scripture, and hugs.
Hebrews 4:15-16 ” For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted, as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
As humans, we struggle. We have emotions. Jesus knows our ways, our thoughts, our feelings. Drawing near to him is where we find our comfort through life. The Holy Spirit rang out in unison with these believers! Heaven is our destination! To be with Jesus is the prize!
Mark 16:19 “So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.”
So many times we get caught up in this life on earth.
Colossians 3:1-2 “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
Our true home is with the Father!
Psalm 90:1 “Lord, through all generations you have been our home!”
It is easy to put that reality to the side when life’s demands call. When we just want that new pillow on our sofa. When we worry about our kids and their choices. When we get caught up in what to wear to the next event we have. Even more so, when we see someone pass and leave their precious family.
To me, it was a great time to refocus. To put my mind on heaven and to show others that great reward! That I want my friends and family to find the joy in heaven and spending eternity with Jesus! Sisters, so glad our home is in heaven with our Savior! Look to heaven! Heaven is our home! What a celebration day that will be!
