I was reading a blog today, and the whole essence was based on Christmas “to-dos”. The list of the to-dos was endless, almost. There were lists of lists. It reminded me of how crazy we all can get during the Christmas season.  Added to our crazy, we are moving back to the States mid-December from South Africa. So, our crazy is high. I am trying to control that crazy by making sure to do some things to make Christ a priority. So, I am gonna give you some things to remind you about keeping Christ first.

Luke 2:11   Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.

  1. Take time daily to read God’s word. Maybe pick up an advent devotion or maybe your church has devotion for the Christmas season. Devote 5 minutes before or after dinner to read together as a family.
  2.  Schedule downtime.  I am convinced if you don’t schedule downtime in the month of December it won’t happen.  Look at the calendar and make time around the family and the schedule.
  3.  Do something for your neighbor. There is no other time like Christmas to be able to reach out to the people that live around you. Share the love of Jesus through cookies, cake, a candle or just something small. It doesn’t have to be a big thing. People are open to neighbors knocking on the door. Invite them to a Christmas service or leave a pamphlet with your cookies.

This season is meant for us to remember Christ, our Saviour. He was born in a lowly manger sinless. Jesus came to earth to save us from our sins. We are all sinners and need His forgiveness. So, we celebrate his birth because we know we need him.
