Matthew 6:11 says, “Give us today our daily bread.” I recently watched a video about this one verse by Louie Giglio, pastor of Passon City in Atlanta and starter of the Passion movement.

So, at this time in our lives, we are preparing to return to the States from being in Africa for 9.5 years. So the looming transition and all that goes with moving across the world is overwhelming, to say the least. My son, who is a senior in high school was sick for 8 days and had so much makeup work and himself wasn’t in a good place. My husband was also traveling 4 of the 7 weeks in March/April.

So, these are my thoughts from his sermon.

It says give us today. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Only today. So each day since hearing this sermon, I wake up and ask God for today. Just enough for today. For what I need physically, emotionally, spiritually, every aspect of my day. Enough for today.

We can look back at the Israelites and they had a fire by night and sun by day. They also had manna that came from heaven every day. Enough to store, but the ones that stored the manna, it rotted. So enough for today.God goes before us each day and provides what we need for that day. My life verse is Colossians 1:17. He goes before ALL things and IN HIM ALL things hold together.   He already knows what you need for that day. It’s not a surprise to him. The Lord will fight for you if you are willing to sit still long enough to watch and listen. Put on the armor of God and fight. If you are a believer, his presence is with you every day through the Holy Spirit.

It is Christ in us that is the hope for each day. So reflect, do you know Jesus? Do you know he is enough for today?

He is ENOUGH FOR TODAY
