“That was supposed to be me…”
‘Romans 12:15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep.’
When we see women our age -or younger- progressing to the next stage in life -without us- perhaps we feel a mixture of loss, frustration…or even jealousy? Often this applies to relationships: boyfriends, weddings and children; but can also touch life achievements like degrees, job promotions or even owning a home. Friend, let’s cast aside this negative comparison! When that little rain cloud of bitterness hovers over our head, may we choose to obey our loving God & rejoice in the rain! Experiencing loss? It’s devastating! I understand and I’m truly sorry! Find solace in the arms of our Heavenly Father when nothing else can help. We may still hurt, but joining other’s joy CAN bring healing. Likewise, sharing burdens makes them bearable. Only through Him can we find true joy.
“but my internal clock is ticking!”
As Daughters, we have an innate desire given by God, to nurture. Look upward and operate in a spirit of thankfulness instead of fear. While we hope and pray about the desires of our heart (husband, children, a home, etc), we can pursue this:
Nurture a God relationship – Our identity resides first in Christ, any secondly, in any role God gives us. How can we be a good (wife, mother, employee) if we are not first right with God? The rain of trials and the light of the Son will cause us to grow!
Secondly, Nurture what we have. ‘Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.’ Maybe you DON’T have a baby of your own, but have a full church nursery that needs workers or a husband who could use more tenderness and care? Or perhaps God hasn’t given you a guy; but what about the lonely elderly people you could visit, or a friend who is secretly hurting? When we focus on others and use our talents to serve Christ, we can truly bloom where we are planted.
