John 8:12(KJV):Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
It’s almost bedtime. So I run to my kid’s bedroom to make sure their beds are ready and the curtains are pulled all the way so that it is a smooth transition for all of us. As we pray and put them all to sleep, I notice the fan has opened the curtain a bit. The street light has decided to peek through the window. The dark room is not completely dark anymore and it is as if I can almost see everything.
The light from the window shed three things in the room that night. I noticed the extra pile of messy clothes all the way on top of the storage drawer that I had neglected to clean up. I also saw one of my kids trying to sneak out of the bed. And lastly, I could come out of the room without tripping anywhere because of that tiny light.
As a born-again believer, I have often tried to reason with some of my behaviors that God still sees as unconfessed sin in my life. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
There are three things Jesus sheds light in our lives:
Jesus sheds light into our every unconfessed sin :
Sin separates us from having a beautiful relationship with God. And it traps us in condemnation. After Adam and Eve realized that they had sinned, they suddenly saw that they were naked. The light brought their nakedness and sin into the light. And they decided to hide from God. God knows our every little dark secrets, and dirty sins. So, instead of hiding and running from God let Adam and Eve, let us flee sin and run to God. The Lord is waiting for the return of His children from backsliding with both His arms stretched out.
Just like Light has no fellowship with darkness, sin has no fellowship with the Savior. Jesus condemns sin but loves every sinner, and is beckoning each one of us to come back to His fold.Romans 8:1,2 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death.”
Jesus sheds light on our deeds:
Jesus says that He is the Light of the world. And we must always remember that everything that we do in the dark will be exposed in the Light by the Light of the World. Every conversation, every action, and especially every deed will be brought into Light.
In Acts 5, we read about Ananias and Sapphira. They are a couple who decided to hold a little part of the profit they earned after selling their land for themselves. You see believers in the early church at Jerusalem were so much in fire for the Lord that they held their possessions loosely. And they willingly shared to the poor in need (Acts 4:32-34). So, when Ananias and his wife lied to the Holy Spirit they ended up dead. We must make sure that we honor God through our actions, and bring Him glory.
Mathew 6: 6 (KJV)..thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
John 3:21(NIV)- But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
Jesus sheds light on our walk:
Jesus is the Light of life, and without the light and life everything on this earth will cease to exist. And we will continue to fall into deep pits of darkness. God’s Word will point out if our walks are in the counsel of the godly or ungodly. And if we are walking in the dark.
Enoch was the seventh man from Adam, who unlike his grandfather did not walk away from God. We read in Genesis 5:24 that “And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.”
To walk in the Light means to walk with Jesus by following His precepts and living a holy life in this wicked world.
Is our walk in sync with the Word today?
Proverbs 4:19(KJV) says,” The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.”
Psalm 56:13(KJV) says, “ For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?”
Whether we are single or married, a blogger or stay at home mom, or any other God-given ministry -let us continue to walk in the Light for the Lord Himself is the Light. Let us shine for Jesus before others.
Until we meet again,
