My daughter was jumping and playing in the puddles today after it rained. She was not worried about her feet getting wet because her Daddy had put rain boots on her. She was enjoying the moment knowing that her Daddy was right there watching over her. She was trusting that if she was going the wrong way he would redirect her steps.

When was the last time you relaxed and just jumped in to something knowing that your Daddy was right there watching over you? When you feel God leading you do you jump in “the puddle” or do you doubt, plan, and compare? While I do like to plan… I think we spend so much time planning because we have a hard time trusting. If God is who He says He is then we should have no problem going where He sends us. If we truly believe that He is right there with us watching over us then being obedient to His word should be our heart’s desire.

If we make choices to live in ways that do not line up with the Word then we have decided that we know better than God. If we make choices based on our own insight or what we understand without acknowledging God, we do not trust Him. We have chosen not to trust Him no matter how many times we say we do.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. If we acknowledge Him, He will make our paths straight. Why do we complicate things? Trusting Him and relying on Him will overflow as acknowledgement of Him and then He will make our paths straight. He doesn’t promise they will be easy but as we walk the straight paths it will be easier to jump in the puddles trusting that our Daddy is right there watching over us directing our steps.
