Have you ever felt like you don’t belong? Have you ever felt like you don’t fit in? Have you ever felt like you aren’t worth anything? Have you ever felt like you aren’t loved? Are you always wishing you were someone else? Are you always comparing yourself to others?
If you answered yes to some or all of these my prayer is that this post will encourage you.
First off let me start by saying YOU ARE LOVED! YOU ARE WORTH IT! YOU ARE PRICELESS!
I’m reminded of this verse in the Bible. “You are priceless to me. I love you and honor you. So I will trade other people for you. I will give up other nations to save your lives.” Isaiah 43:4 (NIRV)
Living in the world we do today is hard. People judge you, criticize you, make you feel worthless. Today’s society wants you to act, dress, and look a certain way. If you don’t, they think something is wrong with you.
Let me tell you from experience that nothing makes you feel worse then thinking people don’t like you. I have always struggled and still struggle with what people think of me. I think we all do but one thing that I have learned over time is yes we can think about it but don’t let it define you. What I mean when I say define you is this. Don’t let what people think become what you think.
Sure there are times when I looked like my friends, or had what they had. Yes I care about how I look, what I wear, who I hang out with. We all do and there’s nothing wrong with that. What we can’t do or shouldn’t do is change how we look or dress just so people will like us.
You need to be yourself! You need to be real! You need to be you! God created you to be unique. He chose you to be you and no one else. You are worth so much because Jesus died for you.
I remember texting a sweet close friend one day just complaining how I wish I was her. She came back with whoa, you don’t want to be me. The conversation we had made me realize something. She told me that God could’ve made me her but He did. He made me for a reason and that she loved me for me. She loved the real me, flawed, not perfect. It made me feel good. In that moment I felt loved. I felt priceless.
Remember the best thing for you is to be real, be yourself. Don’t pretend to be something that you’re not. If you can’t be yourself or real with your friends then they really aren’t your friends after all.
I’m reminded of a song by For King and Country that’s called Priceless. I love the lyrics that say this: “Irreplaceable, unmistakable, incomparable, darling it’s beautiful. I see it all in you. Oh, so priceless.”
Choose to be yourself and let the love of Jesus shine through. You are worth so much more. Remember you are priceless.
