Life has a way of swooping in and making a mess of situations. I see it as the weather in Oklahoma. Let me just say, Oklahoma is unpredictable. Six years ago, I had our daughter Ella. This was when I was still working, I went to the mall to show off my two week old baby (because I was retail manager.. there are some stories there!). I kept hearing that we were under a tornado watch. I did not think anything of it, it was sunny, it was a beautiful day out. On my way home after showing off my beautiful baby girl. (First time parent!) The sky was still sunny until I got about 10 minutes away from the mall. I was on the interstate; I could hear the sirens there. I called my husband. He calmly told me to turn around. Then we were cut off. I called my mom, (because you know, that will make her calm all the way in Iowa). I could not turn around; we were in traffic that was going so slow. I slowly started to panic in my head. I have our newborn baby to protect. How could this be? I mean it was sunny minutes ago and BAM tornado weather. My windshield was caving in because of the hail. I was driving through 3 different supercells. Want to talk about frazzled, I was that. I was a mess. My baby slept through the whole thing.
I feel like I got off topic but you can see in this that I did not believe that the weather was capable of changing in a moment. It did though. Life changes every second. It can swoop in and pull us under within a blink of an eye. Do not get caught up in it. Do not put your blinders on that you can only see what is in front of you. A frazzled life is not what Jesus intended for us. He knows things are going to capture our attention. He knows that we are going to feel overwhelmed. However, you do not have to stay in that place. You do not have to stay down and defeated.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Jesus did not sacrifice himself on the cross so we can live in the brokenness. Daughter it is time to get on your knees. Pray. Pray to our Father. Come before Him and ask Him to take what is holding you back, what is holding you down. God has not left you. God is right there with you but He wants to hear from you. He wants you to take the first step. He wants to take this away. It might not be instant but if you come back daily, throughout the day in prayer.. God will always show up.
