reba2On September 18th was our church’s 10 year anniversary celebration plus our groundbreaking for our new sanctuary. This was super exciting for us because we have been a portable church for about 8 years. We meet each Sunday in a middle school cafeteria. We have to set up chairs, the platform, and our nursery areas. Then we have to transform the room back for school on Monday.

We are very close to our dream of having our own building on our beautiful 20 acres. We have a dream and a vision and have been waiting and persevering. We are so very close!!

Dreams and waiting and faith seem to go hand in hand. I can think of many things I’ve dreamed for over the last few years & it seems like they have taken forever to get here. I get one step closer only to take two steps backward. My faith has been strong at some points and weak at others. My dreams have changed and transformed during the waiting times. Sometimes I’ve wanted to give up on the dream because it has just seemed too hard! Let’s take the quick route. Let’s take second best.

As I think about dreaming, I’m reminded of Joseph in the Old Testament. Talk about taking the long route! He had a dream but I know the way he got to that vision was certainly not the way he thought he’d get there!

(You can read his story starting in Genesis 37.)

His story is truly one of the best on dreaming and waiting. I’m sure there were times he wanted to give up, but he didn’t. He remained faithful and was even promoted in times of being a slave and being in jail!

Promoted!!

That tells me that he was still a man of excellence even when he could’ve given up. Even when no one was really watching or even cared. He remained faithful! And in the end, his dreams became reality!

It has taken us a long time of waiting for our church to see our dreams realized. The way hadn’t always been easy. It hasn’t always been pretty. We’ve had obstacles come. But we’ve remained faithful and here we are. Even in my personal life, my the path to my dreams don’t always make sense. The road isn’t always easy or pretty. But if I hold on, I know it will be so much better than I can even imagine!

What dreams are you waiting on? How are your dreams evolving as you wait? Hang on and remain faithful! He’s got you!
